IHIT ID’s Abbotsford homicide victim to advance investigation, looks for Toyota involved in shooting

ABBOTSFORD — Homicide detectives in B.C. have identified the victim in Monday’s shooting in Abbotsford to advance their investigation.

According to a statement from Integrated Homicide Investigation Team spokesperson Sgt. Freda Fong, authorities have named the victim as 68-year-old Darshan Sahsi of Abbotsford, in order to further their investigation.

Sgt. Fong says early indications reveal this was a targeted incident, and no one else was injured as a result of the shooting.

AbbyPD patrol officers responded at 9:22 a.m. Monday morning (Oct. 27) for the report of a shooting in the 31300 block of Ridgeview Drive. Attending officers located a man suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite lifesaving measures, the man died at the scene.

IHIT has taken conduct of this investigation and continues to work in partnership with AbbyPD, the BC Coroners Service and Forensic Identification Services (FIS) personnel.

Sgt. Fong says investigators are working diligently to ascertain a motive and the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Homicide investigators are releasing a CCTV image of a silver Toyota Corolla involved in the homicide and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the occupant.

IHIT is seeking dashcam footage from anyone who was in the area of the 31300-block of Ridgeview Drive on Monday, October 27, between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Surveillance video purportedly circulating on social platforms shows a man in black clothes getting out of a light-coloured car, running to the victim’s car and shooting him several times through the window, before running back to his car. However, homicide detectives have not alluded to this in their statement this morning.
