41-year-old man suffers serious injuries after being shot Monday morning in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford have confirmed that a 41-year-old man was shot Monday morning George Ferguson Way in Abbotsford, and is not connected to the homicide on Ridgeview Drive that happened Monday morning.

According to a statement from AbbyPD Sgt. Paul Walker, police were called to the 33200 block of George Ferguson Way for a report of a shooting there. When officers arrived, they promptly identified a home where the shooting occurred and set up containment procedures.

Police located a 41-year-old man at the scene with what is believed to be a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries. One man, believed to be the suspect, was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.

Sgt. Walker says the incident is being treated as targeted and is not believed to be connected to the ongoing extortion-related investigations or the earlier homicide on Ridgeview Drive. Police detectives are seeking assistance from the public.

The incident marks the third shooting in less than two and a half days in Abbotsford. A person was treated at hospital after a shooting Saturday morning at approximately 3 a.m. at Clearbrook Road and Downes Road in northwest Abbotsford.

Anyone who was in the area of George Ferguson Way between Fuller Street and Ware Street between 11:15 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., and who may have witnessed suspicious activity or captured dashcam footage, is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
