Indigenous story-ballet dances into Chilliwack Cultural Centre next month
CHILLIWACK — A multimedia performance based on a traditional Atlantic Canadian tale is waltzing into Chilliwack soon.
“Pisuwin”, a Wolastoq story about returning the spirit of water, is the contemporary brainchild of award-winning director and choreographer Igor Dobrovolskiy, multi-disciplinary artist Nipahtuwet Naka Wespahtuwet Possesom Paul, and Polaris Prize and Juno award-winning composer Jeremy Dutcher.
“Visually striking and deeply evocative, Pisuwin invites reflection on the state of our world and asks you to imagine a path forward—one that restores balance, responsibility, and reconnection,” said the Chilliwack Cultural Centre in a release.
Guests can expect electronic soundscapes, digital projections and industrial imagery layered with movement from traditional Indigenous storytelling.
