ABBOTSFORD — The Abbotsford Police Department is now investigating after a mid-size SUV damaged multiple farming fields by driving into them earlier this week.

At around 3 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 12), a Dodge Durango came up to Western Turf Farms on Marion Road and did donuts on the sod field. Police received a report of the incident the next day.

“The vehicle caused visible damage to the property as a result of its actions,” said Sgt. Paul Walker with AbbyPD. “Our officers have since launched an investigation and are following up on available evidence.”

General manager Rob Rindt said two people came in with the SUV, broke the gate, then proceeded to perform donuts on six or more acres of grass.

“My brother, who’s out there, saw what was going on from the yard, and then he went over there to confront him,” Rindt told Fraser Valley Today. “My brother tries to stop the [driver]. He blocked the driveway and then tried turning the car off. [The man] was saying ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,’ and then he somehow squeezed through around my brother’s vehicle and raced off.”

“Then he was gone.”

A post made by Western Turf Farms showed the incident involved a vehicle with black rims, an extra front spoiler and licence plate A15 3AN.

The farm’s Langley location also experienced a similar event in September last year, causing over $50,000 in damage to the property.

“I think it’s covered more of an area that’s more damaged because they did it in a single afternoon, and in broad daylight on top of it all,” he added.

Rindt asks anyone who’s seen the vehicle to contact police and quote file number AB-25-442-05.
