48-year-old impaired driver allegedly collides head-on with police vehicle, refuses to comply
ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford say a 48-year-old motorist faces charges after allegedly striking a parked police vehicle Sunday evening and refusing to comply with instructions, one of three impaired drivers AbbyPD located on Sunday.
According to a weekend recap from AbbyPD Sgt. Paul Walker, an Abbotsford PD patrol officer encountered an impaired driver who had struck a parked vehicle. Police say the impaired driver collided head-on with the police vehicle and refused to comply with commands.
Less-lethal shotgun rounds were deployed to safely initiate an arrest. The 48-year-old driver now faces criminal impaired driving charges.
Drunk driving continues to be a major issue for police in Abbotsford. Over the four-day weekend, 17 impaired drivers were removed from Abbotsford-area roadways.
