ABBOTSFORD — Hundreds of runners have recently broken record funds for the annual Canadian Cancer Society’s CIBC Run for the Cure in Abbotsford.

On October 5, 590 participants joined the Run and raised $207,773 to support breast cancer research– beating the previous record of over $135,000 roughly six years ago.

“Thanks to the outstanding success of the Abbotsford community’s fundraising this year, the hope sparked on Run Day will continue all year long,” said Lynn Li, communications lead with the Canadian Cancer Society.

“Every dollar raised ensures that the end of the Run is the beginning of fuelling new research breakthroughs in institutions nationwide, compassionate care, and advocacy for a healthier future for everyone.”
