CHILLIWACK — Environment Canada has issued a Snowfall Warning and a Special Weather Statement, warning drivers of the threat of snow on highways leading to the B.C. Interior. It says a cold front is moving through the region over the weekend.

The Snowfall Warning has been issued for Highway 3 between Hope and Princeton. The weather agency says up to 20 cm of snow could fall over the Allison Pass between Saturday evening (Oct. 11) and Sunday evening.

A Special Weather Statement was released earlier, forecasting the system could dump between 2 cm and 10 cm of snow at higher elevations along the Okanagan Connector between Merritt and Kelowna. And later Saturday, Environment Canada extended the Special Weather Statement to include the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt in the statement.

Environment Canada says the threat of snowfall will continue through Thanksgiving Monday.
