Traffic slowed after car sets ablaze on Coquihalla Highway Sunday morning

COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY — Motorists on the Coquihalla Highway have been faced with delays after a vehicle caught on fire northbound from Hope late Sunday morning (Oct. 5)

DriveBC confirmed the incident shortly after 9:15 a.m., saying a northbound vehicle incident north of the Great Bear Snowshed had the right lane blocked.

Photos and videos shared on social media show what appeared to be a burning minivan in the right lane.

Google Maps showed an eight-minute delay in the area at the time of writing, two hours after the car fire.

The incident has cleared up as of noon.
