Chilliwack man sentenced to 13 1/2 years in jail for drug trafficking, attempted bribery, and firearms offences
CHILLIWACK — A spokesperson for the Chilliwack RCMP detachment says a Chilliwack man has been sentenced to 13 1/2 years in prison following a multi-year investigation by the Chilliwack RCMP Drug Section.
According to a statement from Sgt. Alexandra Mulvihill, the charges against William Michael Dow stem from two separate investigations involving drug trafficking, firearms offences, and an attempt to bribe a correctional officer.
Between November 2019 and March 2020, the Chilliwack RCMP Drug Section conducted an extensive investigation into Dow. Sgt. Mulvihill reveals that surveillance and judicial authorizations led to a March 31, 2020 search of his residence, where officers seized fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and a prohibited handgun with an over-capacity magazine. The Public Prosecution Service of Canada later approved nine charges.
In a separate incident in October 2020, an off-duty correctional officer reported that Dow attempted to bribe her to smuggle contraband into the Kent Institution, a max-security prison in Agassiz.
