Abbotsford police impound vehicle, issue school zone speeding ticket

ABBOTSFORD — A driver of a rental vehicle will be paying a big fee to the rental company after being caught speeding in a school zone in Abbotsford Thursday (Sept. 25).

According to an Abbotsford Police Department social media post, officers recorded the driver doing 89 km/h in the M.E.I Elementary School zone. The speed is nearly three times the school zone limit.

Police say the driver was stopped, issued a ticket for excessive speed and then the vehicle was impounded.

Police say they have impounded 333 vehicles for excessive speeding in 2025.
