Overnight closure planned at Coquihalla Highway near Hope Saturday

HOPE — Motorists driving up the Coquihalla may need to find different travel routes as crews work to repair a portion of the highway overnight Saturday (Sep. 27).
From 12:01 a.m. to 8 a.m., the northbound lanes on Highway 5 will be closed at Snowshed Hill for much-needed paving on a deteriorating seam between the slow and middle lanes.
“This has been causing water to pool during rain, leading to hydroplaning and heavy spray, and creating safety risks for drivers,” said the Ministry of Transportation and Transit. “The repairs will help prevent further damage and improve safety before winter.”
The closure runs from Exit 183 Othello Road to just past the Merritt Princeton Highway 5A.
