Pedestrian struck in collision at Spadina and First Thursday afternoon
CHILLIWACK — A pedestrian has been struck by a vehicle in downtown Chilliwack Thursday afternoon (Sep. 25).
At around 12:49 p.m., an older woman was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Spadina Avenue and First Avenue. BCEHS and Chilliwack fire crews were paged to the scene, and the victim was airlifted to hospital.
“She was unresponsive and had a head injury that was bleeding,” said Brooke Coombes, a witness at the scene. “Lips were turning blue, luckily paramedics got there within five minutes and some other witnesses were doing CPR and awaiting the paramedics.”
Coombes added that bystanders helped out before the arrival of first responders, with some handing first aid kits, emergency blankets, diapers and more to stop the bleeding.
