High-risk sex offender Randall Hopley released in Vancouver
VANCOUVER — A high-risk sex offender who escaped from Mission Institution in May has now been released to live in Vancouver under several conditions.
In a statement from Vancouver Police Monday (Sep. 22), 60-year-old Randall Hopley, who has been convicted of abducting a three-year-old boy as well as three sexual offences, is now back in the community as mandated by law.
“On his previous Statutory Release, he was suspended due to breaching his conditions,” said the Police Department. “Vancouver Police believe compelling reasons exist to warn the public that he poses a high risk to the public and a high risk to breach his conditions.”
Federal regulations state the automatic release of an inmate back to the community with conditions after they’ve served two-thirds of their sentence.
