Abbotsford police respond to shooting, break-ins throughout weekend

ABBOTSFORD — The Abbotsford Police Department has been kept busy over the past weekend, with calls ranging from thefts and collisions to high-risk incidents and break-ins.

“Between Friday at 5:00 PM and Monday at 6:00 AM, AbbyPD frontline teams responded to 335 police files, keeping extremely busy throughout the weekend,” said AbbyPD.

“Officers handled serious calls for service while continuing proactive efforts to keep our community safe.”

Notable files included an ERT deployment for a high-risk mental health call Friday afternoon, as well as a break-in at a local mall later in the shift.

Officers arrested a total of eight individuals the next day – six of them from proactive policing. On Saturday evening, Patrol then responded to a shooting in the 30600 block of Brookside Avenue.

There were no injuries reported, and the motive remains under investigation.

Finally, in an otherwise routine Sunday shift, police responded to a targeted home invasion in the 3600 block of Homestead Crescent. That incident yielded minor injuries.

Traffic enforcement removed 14 impaired drivers and issued 33 violation tickets on the road this weekend.
