Abbotsford to host annual gathering for Truth and Reconciliation Day

ABBOTSFORD — Residents are invited to join other community members and partners for an upcoming Truth and Reconciliation Day gathering in Abbotsford.

The Abbotsford School District is hosting the third annual Stetís ímexstowx, or Walk Beside Us, event to commemorate its ongoing commitment to the traditional and unceded territories of Máthxwi, Semá:th and Leq’á:mel First Nations.

“Our dedicated partners have come together at Civic Precinct with a common goal—to create a space for learning and understanding,” said the School District.

Some activities include an experiential learning exercise, interactive storytelling and performances inspired by the award-winning children’s book, Semá:th Xó̱:tsa: Sts’ólemeqwelh Sxó̱:tsa / Great Gramma’s Lake.

The free, family-friendly event is set to run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 30, at Thunderbird Square and Civic Plaza on Veterans Way.
