CHILLIWACK — Mounties in Chilliwack say a man who is known to police was arrested in connection to a break and enter at a home in downtown Chilliwack last weekend.

According to a statement from the Chilliwack RCMP detachment, police received a report of a break and enter at a home in the downtown Chilliwack area on Saturday morning, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. The homeowner had returned to find their home had been broken into and their truck being stolen.

On Sunday night, at 11:55 p.m., Chilliwack RCMP officers were conducting proactive patrols when they came across a suspicious truck driving near the Chilliwack Coliseum. They soon learned this truck matched the description of the stolen vehicle from the previous day.

The officers worked quickly to conduct a safe traffic stop. The driver, who was the sole male occupant of the vehicle, was arrested without incident. He was held in custody for court on September 8, 2025. The driver, who is well known to the police, is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Failing to comply with undertaking

“We are pleased that this incident resulted in the safe recovery of the vehicle which will be returned to the owner. Recovering stolen property and holding offenders accountable remains a key priority for our officers,” Chilliwack RCMP said in a statement.

The Chilliwack RCMP would also like to remind the public to help reduce crime by securing their property. Lock vehicles, remove valuables from plain view, and report suspicious activity. Simple precautions can make a significant difference in preventing theft.
