Former Thai Express in Chilliwack to be occupied by new eatery as soon as next month

CHILLIWACK — If all goes as planned, the former Thai Express in the Southgate shopping centre on Yale Road could be replaced by the same restaurant that’s set to open in the Rosedale Village plaza.

Earlier this year, a “notice of termination and notice to quit” from a commercial landlord appeared on the front door of the former Thai Express business around early June, indicating that tenants Kashvi Restaurants Inc. in Port Coquitlam had failed to fulfil its obligations under the lease “by reason of its failure to pay rent.”

Fraser Valley Today has since learned that Rice + Noodle could open in mid-October at 41-45906 Yale Road.

Rice + Noodle is the same business that Ryan Ligon is hoping to open in the Rosedale Village strip mall at 52964 Yale Road East in Rosedale/Popkum. Its projected opening date is Monday, Sept. 15, but that’s subject to change.

The Rice + Noodle restaurant will feature Thai favourite pad thai, pad see ew, panang red curry, Thai green curry, yellow curry, pineapple fried rice, creamy peanut noodle, kung pao, tom yum soup, Thai coconut soup, and Malaysian favourite laksa soup. Side items consist of things like gyozas, chicken satay, spring rolls, shrimp cakes and more.
