Mission RCMP recover skid-steer loader stolen from Hope construction site, ERT called in to assist
HOPE — Mounties in Mission say a Kubota skid-steer loader stolen from a construction site in Hope and valued at over $150,000 has been recovered after police executed a search warrant at a rural property in Mission.
According to a statement from Mission RCMP spokesperson Corporal Harrison Mohr, a Kubota skid steer loader was stolen overnight between Monday night, Sept. 1 and Tuesday morning, Sept. 2 from a Hope construction site. The owner of the machine contacted police, leading investigators to discover that the loader had been transported to a rural property in Mission.
Police obtained a search warrant that same day, before personnel from the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team attended to assist with safely executing the warrant.
Cpl. Mohr says general duty officers and Mission RCMP Crime Reduction Unit officers initiated a search of the property, which was a large acreage along Cameron Avenue, and located the stolen skid steer loader and other evidence. Two men at the property were detained, and the Lower Mainland Integrated Forensic Identification Services unit was also called in to assist with gathering additional evidence.
