CHILLIWACK — A spokesperson for the Chilliwack RCMP detachment has confirmed that a vehicle stolen from the garage of a Sardis home during the Labour Day weekend was later found burnt at an intersection near farm fields in Chilliwack.

Acting on a news tip from a Chilliwack resident, Fraser Valley Today reached out to Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Alexandra Mulvihill and learned that a vehicle was stolen in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 31 from a home just south of Higginson Road, east of Vedder Road, in Chilliwack.

Sgt. Mulvihill says the residents at the home were unaware of a break-in to their garage and the subsequent theft of their vehicle.

Chilliwack RCMP were called to assist Chilliwack Fire Department crews with a vehicle fire at McGuire Road and Chilliwack River Road early Sunday, August 31. A 2014 BMW had been set on fire and was completely burnt, Sgt. Mulvihill said.
