ERT deployed after man barricades inside own Langley home

LANGLEY — Langley RCMP have responded to a serious incident in the Willoughby community Saturday afternoon (Sep. 6).

Police were in the 7100 block of 208 Street to conduct a wellness check at a male individual’s home. After a brief interaction, the man barricaded himself inside the residence, which prompted assistance from the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT).

“The incident has since been safely resolved. One man was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to a local area hospital for assessment and care,” said Sergeant Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP.

There is no ongoing risk to the public, and all road closures in the area have been lifted.
