Canadian team drops to ninth at world black bass competition
The bite slowed down for Canadians Dave Chong and Ben Stokdijk.
Chong, of Aurora, Ont., and Stokdijk, of Lower Truro, N.S., finished 20th on Friday at the world black bass championship at South Africa’s Arabie Dam. The Canadians, who led the team event after Thursday’s round, fell to fifth overall.
Chong and Stokdijk had a solid start Thursday with a five-fish bag that weighed 10.41 kilograms (22.9 pounds).
Jason Hynes of Gananoque, Ont., and Rick Kewell of Kingston, Ont., finished 13th Friday with 6.1 kilograms (13.42 pounds) to stand 14th overall. Hynes and Kewell opened with 4.11 kilograms (9.04 pounds) on Thursday.
