UPDATE: Patient airlifted to hospital in serious condition, 1 arrested, after vehicle incident in Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack first responders were called to Fairfield Island early Thursday morning after a motor vehicle incident on Cartmell Road in Chilliwack in which one person was arrested for an unspecified disturbance.

According to overnight scanner traffic courtesy of Chilliwack resident David Seltenrich, Chilliwack RCMP members, B.C. EHS paramedics and Chilliwack fire crews were dispatched at approximately 12:23 a.m. Thursday, August 28 after an incident on Cartmell.

Scanner traffic indicated Chilliwack Engine 1, two RCMP members and two B.C. EHS paramedics attended the scene.

One person suffered injuries and was transported to Chilliwack Airport where an B.C. EHS air ambulance was waiting to transport the patient.

“BC Emergency Health Services received a call at 12:24 a.m. today regarding a motor vehicle incident on the 45800-block of Cartmell Road in Chilliwack. One ambulance with primary care paramedics and one ambulance with advanced care paramedics responded to the scene. Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment one patient who was transported by ground ambulance to Chilliwack Airport to meet an air ambulance helicopter. The patient was then transported to hospital via air ambulance in serious condition under the care of critical care paramedics,” said BCEHS spokesperson Bowen Osoko.

PulsePoint indicates the call was opened at 12:22 a.m. and closed at 2:52 a.m.

A Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson says police were called to the 45000 block of Cartmell Road just after midnight for the report of a disturbance. Sgt. Alexandra Mulvihill says it appears there was an incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. As a result of the incident, one male was transported to hospital by air ambulance in serious condition.

RCMP did arrest one male on scene and the investigation is ongoing.
