Air quality warning issued for smog in Fraser Valley, Metro Vancouver
FRASER VALLEY — An air quality warning has now been issued from the eastern Fraser Valley to east of Metro Vancouver due to the growing wildfire that sparked Saturday night (Aug. 23).
The Metro Vancouver Regional District states that the smog warning is expected to last at least until Monday, August 25, or until the smoke conditions improve.
“Hot and sunny weather in combination with local emissions has resulted in elevated levels of ground-level ozone,” wrote the District.
“Smoke from the Sailor Bar wildfire burning north of Yale in the Fraser Canyon has resulted in elevated levels of fine particulate matter in the Eastern Fraser Valley.”
