LANGLEY — Langley’s annual Valley West Stampede is swinging back around to give crowds a bucking good time this upcoming Labour Day weekend.

Now in its fourth year, athletes across the North American circuit are coming to Langley to compete for $15,000 in each of the four events: bareback, ladies barrel racing, saddle bronc and bull riding.

“This is the only stop in southern B.C. on the journey to the Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) in Edmonton this October and the National Finals Rodeo (NFRR) in Las Vegas, Nevada, in December,” said Sheila Hicks, president of the Valley West Stampede.

“We invite everyone to come to #VWS25 to get an intimate experience of the best two and four legged athletes in rodeo history.”

Visitors are also invited to check out the family carnival and a new all-star wrestling event before the competition begins, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Organizers are expecting a large turnout this year, as crowds have steadily grown since the first stampede in 2022– drawing in almost 18,000 guests in 2024.

Grounds are set to open at noon each day from August 30 to September 1, at the Langley Riders Society grounds on 208th Street near 42nd Avenue.

The Valley West Stampede is presented in partnership with the locally based Langley Riders Society in Brookswood. More details are available through the event website.
