Person rescued on the Fraser River near Hope
FRASER RIVER — Hope Volunteer Search and Rescue has confirmed that a person was rescued along the Fraser River near Hope after being activated late Thursday night for a critical rescue effort.
According to a statement, Hope SAR was activated once members of the public heard a cry for help on the Fraser River in Hope. A search and rescue contingent immediately launched a search along the banks of the Fraser River in Hope.
Hope SAR says Valley Helicopters took members up to search the river from an aerial vantage point at first light Friday morning. Additional members, with the assistance of Kent Harrison Search and Rescue , took to the water to continue the search.
At around noon, Hope SAR says the subject was found alive a good distance down river and is receiving medical assistance.
