Chilliwack farm to host free corn roast this weekend

CHILLIWACK — A Chilliwack farm is inviting the community to a free event this weekend featuring locally sourced corn straight from its lush fields.

As a way of thanking the community for their support, Sparkes Farmgate at 46265 Prairie Central Road in Chilliwack will host a free corn roast this Saturday.

“We’re throwing a FREE Corn Roast to say THANK YOU! We are so grateful for your continued support,” Sparkes Farmgate wrote on Facebook. “Join us for this classic summer treat, on the house!”

The event gets underway this Saturday, August 23 from noon to 2 p.m.

“Come by, grab a delicious buttery corn, and say hello!” Sparkes Farmgate wrote. “We can’t wait to see you there!”

Sparkes Farmgate offers fresh local produce from their farm, local artisan products, seasonal goods, ice cream, and more.

Their modern facility on Prairie Central Road opened in summer 2023 and sells their signature corn. It also houses a picnic and play area.

“But we’re not just about great produce—we’ve got a lot of fun for the whole family! Visit us in the fall for our pumpkin patch, enjoy a scoop of hand-scooped ice cream, or let the kids burn off some energy on our giant jumping pad,” Sparkes Farmgate wrote on its website. “Whether you’re here for the freshest berries or a family-friendly day out, we’re excited to welcome you to our farm!”
