CHILLIWACK — The B.C. Conservatives have successfully registered as an elector organization in 15 cities across British Columbia, including Chilliwack and Abbotsford, and say more municipalities will be added ahead of next year’s municipal elections across B.C.

The party announced in a news release Thursday that the decision to formally register as an elector organization “builds on the enormous momentum of the conservative movement in recent years.”

Proactively registering as an elector organization will protect the integrity of the Conservative name, ensuring clarity for British Columbians,” the party said.

The party did not release the names of the cities in its news release, but the Vancouver Sun is reporting those 15 cities include Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Fort St. John, Kamloops, Kelowna, the Township of Langley, Prince George, Maple Ridge, Richmond, Saanich, Surrey, Vancouver, Vanderhoof and West Vancouver.

While the B.C. Conservatives acknowledge that its political organization is conservative, true to its name, it remains independent from any other federal or provincial political parties.

“Our organization is solely focused on municipal issues and engagement at the local level,” the party said in a statement. “We have successfully registered in fifteen municipalities so far, with an updated application pending to add additional municipalities.”

In the coming weeks, the party says it will be sharing more information about the future of its organization.
