23-year-old Mission man overtakes unmarked police vehicle at 170 km/h – while allegedly impaired
ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford say a 23-year-old Mission man is facing several traffic charges after he allegedly passed an unmarked police car at a high rate of speed late Tuesday night in Abbotsford – all while being impaired.
According to a social media post, one of AbbyPD’s unmarked traffic vehicles was passed by a vehicle travelling at a ridiculous clip of 170 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 11. Police initiated a traffic stop, and the driver, a 23-year-old man from Mission, was found to be impaired by alcohol.
The man’s license has been suspended for 90 days, while his vehicle, a Cadillac four-door sedan, was impounded for 30 days.
To date, AbbyPD officers have removed 300 excessive speeders and 824 impaired drivers from Abbotsford-area roads.
