CHILLIWACK — Multiple Chilliwack fire engines were paged Monday afternoon for a confirmed balcony fire at a strata complex on Luckakuck Place, not far from Subway and McDonald’s on Luckakuck Way.

According to a scanner recording provided to Fraser Valley Today by Chilliwack resident Julie Hiscock, the Chilliwack Fire duty chief, Engines 1, 4 and 4-2, and Ladder 4, were paged at approximately 3:39 p.m. Monday for a balcony fire at 7715 Luckakuck Place, the Village Creek multi-unit townhouse.

Responding firefighters radioed dispatch to say they had a confirmed balcony fire, prompting fire crews to activate a second alarm for additional manpower. As a result, at least five more engines were paged, including Ryder Lake’s Engine 5 and 5-2, and Rehab 6.

The fire was knocked down relatively quickly by 3:52 p.m., according to scanner traffic. Firefighters then conducted overhaul and ventilation at about 3:55 p.m.
