MISSION — A new hub has opened its doors to offer more child care options in Mission this fall, following a $4.9 million partnership between the City and the B.C. government.

Kids aged 0 to 12 years can now be enrolled in the 67-space Kaleidoscope Centre in Cedar Valley, joining more than 200 other local care spaces funded through ChildCareBC programs.

“For families in Mission, this new child care centre means hundreds of dollars of monthly savings, shorter wait lists and the comfort of knowing their children are learning and growing close to home,” said Rohini Arora, parliamentary secretary for child care.

“It means a single parent can take a job they would otherwise have to turn down, or a mom can complete her education.”

The Child and Youth Excellence Hub also runs on the building’s second floor through the Mission Association for Community Living (MACL)– the centre’s operator.

“MACL has served our community with excellence for over 50 years, and this project demonstrates their foresight,” said Mayor Paul Horn. “By addressing the need for inclusive childcare in Cedar Valley, together we are making this area a more complete community.”

Kaleidoscope broke ground last summer at 33083 Tunbridge Ave.

Pre-registration is available on the centre’s website to finalize spaces for September.
