Silver Creek wildfire that sparked early July still being held
HOPE — The wildfire that erupted on Serpent’s Back Trail has been downgraded back to being held after intensifying earlier this month.
A mix of hard work from BC Wildfire crews, rain, and decreased fire behaviour has helped to contain the blaze in Silver Creek this week.
It has now reverted to a 1.5-hectare smouldering ground fire with no visible flames, but smoke could still be visible from Hope and Highway 1 during active periods.
Two initial attack crews and one helicopter have been assigned to this fire as of August 13.
