LANGLEY — For the second time in less than a week, a motorcyclist has died in a fatal traffic collision in Langley.

According to a statement from Langley RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, Mounties in Langley were dispatched for the report of a serious motor vehicle collision on Wednesday night, Aug. 6 at about 5:56 p.m., at the intersection of 200 Street and 80 Avenue in Langley. The incident involved a motorcycle and a sport utility vehicle (SUV).

Sgt. Sharoom says despite the life-saving efforts of first responders, the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the SUV sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. They are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.

“We have spoken to several witnesses and reviewed dash camera footage. Preliminary examination suggests that speed was a contributing factor in this tragic collision,” said Sgt. Sharoom. “The rules of the road exist to protect all of us. We urge drivers to drive responsibly and within the limits of the law.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken with police is asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and reference file number 2025-25603.

Earlier this week, a motorcyclist died after a motor vehicle collision Sunday night (Aug. 3) on Highway 1 between 248 Street and 264 Street in Langley. Police say that despite the prompt arrival of BC EHS paramedics and Township of Langley firefighters, coupled with life-saving measures being administered, the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) attended to support the BC Highway Patrol and Langley RCMP in the investigation. As a result, westbound lanes of Highway 1 were closed for several hours while police examined the scene.

“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the individual who lost their life,” said Sergeant Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP.
