UPDATE: Power restored to most parts of Fraser Canyon, Lytton

UPDATE 1:37 P.M. TUESDAY: Power has been restored to most parts of the Fraser Canyon, though 100 customers between Hells Gate and Boston Bar are still without power due to a downed tree across hydro wires. Power could be restored to those customers by 4 p.m. later today.

FRASER CANYON/LYTTON — Over 1,200 residential customers of BC Hydro in the Fraser Canyon north of Hope as well as in Lytton have been without power since Monday afternoon.

According to BC Hydro’s online outage map dashboard, 573 customers in the Boston Bar area lost power at 1:40 p.m. Monday afternoon due to a downed tree across hydro wires.

Similarly, 174 customers near Kanaka Bar and Falls Creek north of Boston Bar lost power at 1:44 p.m. Monday for the same reason.

The power outage also impacted Lytton where 516 customers lost power at 4:20 p.m. due to a downed tree across hydro wires.

BC Hydro had previously estimated that power would be restored by 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, but they have since pushed that estimate back to noon today.

Crews have been on site and are working to get power restored.
