Charges laid one year after homicide of Dillan Unger in Langley

LANGLEY — A man is now facing charges in relation to the homicide of 41-year-old Dillan Unger in Langley nearly a year ago.

On August 2, 2024, Langley RCMP responded to a report of shots fired and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to hospital, but only one survived.

IHIT then took over and worked with police and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service to find a suspect and recommend charges.

The BC Prosecution Service has since charged Stephen Johnson with second-degree murder in relation to Unger’s death.

He also faces four counts of attempted murder, one count of aggravated assault, one count of using a firearm to commit an offence and one count of reckless discharge of a firearm during the August 2024 incident.

“Over the past year, investigators have remained committed to advancing this investigation and securing charges in this case,” said Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi of IHIT.

“IHIT would like to thank the Langley RCMP and IFIS for their support throughout the investigation.”

Investigators have confirmed that Unger and Johnson were known to each other.

Johnson remains in custody. No additional details will be released as this matter is now before the courts.
