LYTTON — Highway 1 before Lytton has been closed in both directions as crews respond to a semi-truck fire on Friday morning (July 25).

DriveBC reported the incident in the northbound lane of Kanaka Bar at 7:47 a.m. before updating with the closure between Kanaka Station Road and Cisco Siding Road at around 10:20 a.m.

“Watch for traffic control,” DriveBC posted. “Emergency vehicles on scene.”

Desiree Bellerose, a witness, said three firetrucks, RCMP vehicles and Mario’s Towing were all at the scene four kilometres north of Jackass Mountain Summit.

Video from Bellerose shows the burning truck flipped over on the side of the road.
