Train collides with car in Chilliwack
CHILLIWACK — The driver of a vehicle appeared to escape serious injury Thursday (July 17) night after her vehicle was struck by a train at the Prest Road and First Avenue rail crossing in Chilliwack.
Witnesses report the collision occurred shortly before 8 p.m. The car became lodged on the front of the train and was pushed down the track by the momentum of the locomotive.
A witness says the driver and her dog were able to get out of the stopped vehicle before the collision occurred. A social media post from a person claiming to be the driver says the car broke down.
RCMP and railway police attended the crash and closed the roadway while they collected evidence at the scene.
