Agassiz-area graduates presented with bursaries, awards by local foundation

AGASSIZ-HARRISON — The Kent Harrison Foundation recently recognized graduates of Agassiz Elementary-Secondary School by presenting them with bursaries and awards.

Multiple bursaries were given to students as they continue their postsecondary education in fields like law, firefighting, oceanography, electrical trades, and equine therapy.

Some of those bursary recipients consist of Eryn Meinen, Fahad Biju and Karaj Rekhia. The Kent Harrison Foundation says Meinen plans to further her studies in an equine therapy program, while Rekhia would like to pursue a career in law and provincial politics. All three received Kent Harrison Foundation Community bursaries.

Qhaden Jarvis earned a bursary and will look to become a firefighter one day, according to the foundation.

Hayli Wood received the Mayor Ramsay Memorial award for pursuing further education.

Axyl Gross was presented with the Hyma Family award for furthering studies in trades. The Agassiz/Harrison Lions Club notes Gross hopes to become a Red Seal electrician one day.

Alesha Campbell won the Dr.Leo (Lepomir) Velis award in the field of health.

Adrianah Byers received the McCombs Family Endowment bursary in the field of environment studies, including oceanography.
