OTHELLO TUNNELS

Portion of Othello Tunnels in the Coquihalla Canyon Park opens today

HOPE — A historic spot east of Hope has now reopened just in time for Canada Day weekend.

Three of the five Othello Tunnels, located in the northern portion of Coquihalla Canyon Park, are ready to welcome guests back today (Jun. 27) after undergoing some much-needed restoration work. Infrastructure needed to be rebuilt to withstand severe weather and climate change, as flooding in 2021 left the park severely damaged.

The park is being repaired in phases, with work including the installation of a new bridge, 10 new parking stalls, rock stabilization in the canyon and more.

Visitors can enter from the main parking lot to experience the tunnels, the northern part of the Kettle Valley Rail Trail, as well as the aforementioned north bridge.
