ABBOTSFORD — A spokesperson for the Abbotsford Police Department has confirmed that police apprehended an armed man with a knife by deploying less-lethal bean bag rounds earlier this week.

According to a statement from AbbyPD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker, AbbyPD patrol officers were dispatched to the 32400 block of Emerald Avenue for the report of a man armed with a knife at 11:04 a.m. on Monday, June 23.

While en route, additional callers advised authorities that the man had been entering residential yards, approaching occupied vehicles, and appeared to be in an agitated state.

Upon arrival into the area, officers located the individual, who failed to comply with police commands. Following a brief foot pursuit and during the arrest, less-lethal bean bag rounds were deployed to assist in safely apprehending the individual. The man was immediately transported to hospital by police for medical assessment. No members of the public were injured during the incident.
