
One person shot after clash between 2 groups of men near Surrey park Sunday night
SURREY — Police in Surrey say they’re an investigating a shooting near a park that sent one person to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Surrey Police Service says frontline officers were dispatched on Monday, June 23, at approximately 12:15 a.m., to attend a local hospital for a report from hospital personnel that a man presented there with a gunshot wound. Once police spoke with the victim and several witnesses, officers concluded a shooting happened earlier in the evening in the parking lot of Mud Park Park.
SPS Frontline Investigative Support Team (FLIST) officers have taken conduct of the investigation. Police say preliminary information indicates the shooting happened during a confrontation between two groups of men in the parking lot at Mud Bay Park.
The victim, a man in his 20’s, was driven to hospital by friends. He has since been released from hospital. At this early stage, the motive for the shooting is unknown and there is no suspect information to share.
