Cultus Lake Park Board commissioners still lowest paid of all Chilliwack-area elected officials

CHILLIWACK — Cultus Lake Park Board commissioners remain the lowest-paid elected officials in the Chilliwack area, according to the latest data released by the park board.

In 2024, park commissioners who did not serve as chair or vice chair of the five-member board earned a base salary of $17,090.16 annually, or $1,424.18 monthly. Those three commissioners consisted of Darcy Bauer, Erika Jartved and Thomas Moul. They also received a communications expenses of $1,200, or $100 monthly, to cover things like telecommunications expenditures related to their roles as commissioners.

Vice chair John Beesley garnered an annual remuneration of $20,036.76 in 2024, in addition to a communications stipend of $1,200.

Board chair Kirk Dzaman received the highest of the five commissioners with an annual compensation of $27,698.04, along with a communications stipend of $1,200. He also incurred $3,222.23 in expenses related to his work as board chair.

The highest-paid Cultus Lake Park Board employee in 2024 was Chief Administrative Officer Joe Lamb, a former park board commissioner himself. His 2024 remuneration package was $187,939.30, along with $7,444.04 in expenses.

By comparison, Cultus Lake Park Board commissioners remain the lowest remuneration of Chilliwack-area elected officials. SD33 trustees who do not have a chair or vice chair role are paid a little over $24,500 annually for serving on the Chilliwack Board of Education, or about $2,000 per month, while Chilliwack city councillors now have a base remuneration of over $50,000.
