Chilliwack Fire Dept. seeks paid on-call firefighters
CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Fire Department says it is now accepting applications for the 2025-26 paid on-call (POC) firefighter Recruit Training Program.
According to a news release from Assistant Fire Chief Wade Meeres, paid on-call firefighters are committed residents of Chilliwack who respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week when paged.
Paid on-call firefighters are paid an hourly wage for emergency responses and for attending weekly training sessions typically held Monday evenings.
POC firefighters do a lot more than just fighting fires. For example, firefighters respond to medical emergencies, environmental incidents, gas leaks, and a wide range of rescue situations.
