CHILLIWACK — Guests are invited to view a host of visual treats as the Chilliwack Visual Artists Association (CVAA) showcases three exhibits this summer.

The Fraser Valley Woodturners Guild’s “12 Turners” and the Fibre Art Network’s “Narrow Works” and “I Am” will all be presented at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre from June 25 to July 26.

An eclectic collection of items, ranging from bowls and plates to a hedgehog toothpick holder and a three-cornered jewelry box with a ring post on the lid, marks the woodturners’ lathe-formed exhibit.

“Much of our wood is locally-sourced from felled trees, prunings and driftwood,” wrote the Guild. “In addition to the natural grain pattens, items may have embellishments by means of colors or by using texturing tools.”

“The making of turned wood items is truly creative and we hope that our exhibition will serve to show some of the myriad possibilities using a wide variety of woods and finishes.”

At the other end of tactile arts, “Narrow Works” will showcase individual artists’ theme of choice, while “I Am” explores identity and self-expression.

“Each artist’s interpretation of ‘I AM…’ offers a unique perspective, making for a diverse and thought-provoking exhibit,” the Fibre Art Network added.

An opening reception will be held at Odlum Brown Art Gallery on Saturday, June 28, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Gallery is open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. inside the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.
