Province to open more of Othello Tunnels later this month
HOPE — The B.C. Ministry of Environment and Parks says three more tunnels at the historic Othello Tunnels provincial park will be open in just weeks.
According to a statement from the province Tuesday, the B.C. government says the park is being repaired in phases due to the complexity of the restoration work, following the flooding that left significant damage in November 2021.
On Friday, June 27, the northern portion of the Coquihalla Canyon Park, in which Othello Tunnels are located, will reopen, providing access to three of the five historic tunnels.
During the second phase of restoration work, the new north bridge was installed, 10 new stalls were added to the parking lot, a portion of the Kettle Valley Rail Trail was resurfaced, and more slopes and rocks were stabilized in the canyon.
