HARRISON HOT SPRINGS — The Village of Harrison Hot Springs says the lagoon at Harrison Lake has been ordered closed due an emergency event involving unsafe waters.

In a brief statement Monday afternoon, the village says the lagoon is closed for swimming and wading due to recent water samples that do not meet the required recreational water quality levels as tested by Fraser Health.

The village says the lagoon is closed until further notice, adding that contact with these waters may cause illness or injury.

The closure comes as tourism season approaches and visitors flock to the lakeside attraction. In just two weeks, thousands of Fraser Valley residents and others will flood the village for its fireworks display on Canada Day.
