CP NewsAlert: Ottawa puts latest Canada Post offer up to a vote
OTTAWA — Federal Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu says she’s going to put Canada Post’s latest offer to unionized postal workers up for a vote as soon as possible.
The government is seeking an end to the bargaining stalemate between the Crown corporation and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers.
In a statement, Canada Post says it has received notice that the Minister of Jobs and Families has approved its request for a vote to take place on the company’s final offers to the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), using her authority under section 108.1 of the Canada Labour Code.
Canada Post says the vote will be administered by the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) as soon as possible and will give employees in the Urban and RSMC (Rural and Suburban Mail Carriers) bargaining units the opportunity to have their say on Canada Post’s final offers.
