33-year-old man facing multiple charges in sexual assault in the Fraser Valley last week
FRASER VALLEY — Police in Surrey say charges have been laid against a 33-year-old man connected to an alleged sexual assault last week.
According to a statement from spokesperson Sgt. Tige Pollock, Surrey Police Service (SPS) is seeking additional witnesses in a June 5, 2025 incident in which Jatinder Singh Gill was arrested and charged with three counts.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, woman exited a transit bus and was walking west on 72 Avenue from 132 Street when she was allegedly approached from behind and assaulted and sexually assaulted by an unknown man. Police say the woman managed to flee the stranger and police were called. While police were arriving, the same man approached another woman who was standing at the nearby bus stop and allegedly assaulted her. Police arrived a short time later and took the man into custody.
During the investigation into these two assaults, police learned of another alleged assault that occurred earlier in the day a short distance away. At approximately 2:30 p.m., police were called for a reported assault that had occurred near the intersection of 72 Avenue and 130 Street. A woman reported that she was approached and assaulted by a man unknown to her. Police are investigating potential links between this incident and the incident that occurred later that night a short distance away.
