LANGLEY — A Langley man is facing numerous charges for his alleged involvement in a gang-related shooting in 2024.

On September 21 last year, Langley RCMP responded to shots fired in the area of 196 Street and 84 Avenue and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One man was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, while the other died on scene.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took control of the investigation shortly after and believed that the incident was a targeted event linked to B.C. gang conflict.

Investigators identified the victim as 38-year-old Edmonton man Johnathan Hebrada-Walters, who was known to police as he was also connected to a road rage incident in Mission earlier that month.

IHIT has now arrested 41-year-old Barinder Singh Dhaliwal in relation to the shooting. On June 4, prosecutors approved charges against him for possession of a loaded firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

“Today’s outcome is the result of teamwork between IHIT, Langley RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) and CFSEU-BC, and their commitment to public safety,” said Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT.

No additional information will be released as the matter is now before the courts.
