CHILLIWACK — Those Smile cookies at Tim Hortons are hard to resist.

Chilliwack-area residents opened their wallets last month for a great cause, raising over $14,000 for the Chilliwack Hospital Foundation through the purchase of cookies at local Tim Hortons restaurants.

“What a reason to SMILE! An amazing community campaign in support of our local hospital!” the foundation wrote online this past week. “Ivy and her team at 3 Tim Hortons Location raised over $14,000 during Smile Week for the Chilliwack Hospital Foundation.”

The foundation thanked not only Tim Hortons for allowing the cookie sales, but other key partners as well.

“Thank you to Tim Hortons, RBC, Chilliwack Chamber, and each and every one of you who smiled in support of the Chilliwack Hospital,” the foundation said. “When community comes together, incredible things happen. Every Smile Cookie sold was a contribution to the equipment upgrades at our hospital. We feel so incredibly honored to have been chosen to be the recipients of this incredible initiative.”

The Chilliwack Hospital Foundation recently held a Sip and Support event at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre in early May, as it works to connect the business community with the Chilliwack medical community.

The foundation’s board consists of president Harry Geddes, vice president Leanna Kemp, treasurer Jeannine Walsh, and directors Chief David Jimmie, Bruce Vandenbrink, Darlene Koller, Jeff Fortin, Paul Donaldson and Todd Harvey.
