CHILLIWACK — Over 100 players hoping to get a foot in the door and a spot on a Canadian Junior Football League roster converged in Chilliwack over the weekend for the Valley Huskers’ Spring Camp.

The Huskers wrapped up a spirited and competitive Spring Camp this weekend at Exhibition Stadium in Chilliwack, capping off three days of action with an intersquad scrimmage on Sunday. The camp brought together over 100 hopefuls looking to crack the CJFL roster and left coaches optimistic about the upcoming season.

Valley Huskers head coach Head Bob Reist spoke highly of the group’s performance: “We were extremely impressed with our recruiting class and the way the guys came out and competed this weekend. Our veterans create a competitive standard and the young guys rose to meet the challenge. This was an exciting group to work with. We are happy to move forward with the group we have. There was a lot of character and talent on display this weekend.”

The camp highlighted depth and potential across all positions, setting the stage for heated battles throughout training camp. Running backs coach and special teams coordinator Ryk Piché echoed Reist’s sentiments.

“The level of play was high. The players were pushing each other and were eager to learn. The group was extremely coachable, and I’m super excited to see how competitive this team will be this year,” Piché said.

Sunday’s intersquad game gave the coaching staff a clear look at player execution under pressure, with several new recruits making strong cases for roster spots. As the Huskers shift toward their summer schedule, the energy and momentum from this weekend will carry forward into what should be a highly competitive, spirited 2025 season.
